Inclusion is one of the main four core values of Premier International School. The Learning Support Unit (LSU) specializes in inclusion of students and pupils with learning difficulties and sets the approach for academic intervention and learning support in that regard. The department caters for children with special needs/additional needs such as: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit and Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD), Cerebral Palsy (CP), Down Syndrome (DS), Learning Disability (LD), Hearing Impairment (HI), etc.
STAFF STRENGTH
The Unit is equipped with highly skilled and certified Special Education Needs (SEN) teachers and therapists who work assiduously to provide all its students with an appropriate and efficient education.
Why Premier Special Needs?
Speech and Communication
90% of children in the department have progressed in both speech and communication. This includes verbal speech, total communication, and lots more.
Social and Behavioural Therapy
60% of our children are able to interact and socialize with people in a frienddly and acceptable manners.
Occupational Therapy
Every child has grasped the steps in basic living skill. About 80% of the students can also attend to basic activities for daily living.
Classroom Support
Because Premier is an inclusive school, all of the students in the unit are provided with classroom support in their different streamlined subjects. This is aided by one-on-one reinforcement session at the unit.
Cognitive Reasoning Therapy
This therapy is for core learners whose learning activities take place at the Unit. 80% of the students can accurately comprehend what they read in books or watch in videos.
Vocational Skills
This skills acquisition class help in revealing some of the hidden talents in the children such as arts and crafts, use of Information and Communication Technology, etc.

Who Can Access The Learning Support Unit?
Students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit and Hyperactive Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Learning Disability, Hearing Impairment etc. 2-day assessment is conducted to identify the specific area(s) of the child’s needs in other to prepare an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) which will suit and accommodate the learner’s ability.
